private dwellings where the owner or the owner’s immediate family reside are NOT required to register annually with HPD.
What happens if I do not register my building with HPD
HPD will issue Class I Violations/Commissioner’s Orders to properties that have not registered. HPD may also impose fines ($250 – $500).
The annual registration deadline is September 1.
